Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.


Author Guidelines

In order to submit an article, you must have an endorser.

Endorsers must be an author of one of the submitted works accepted in the "Articles" or "Reprints" section and submitted within the last five years. Alternatively, an endorser can be a research area leader. Here is a complete list of current endorsers. The endorser must know the author personally and be able to act as a reference for the author's credibility. If you are an author, please state who your endorser is under the "Comments for the Editor" area on the submissions page when you submit your article.

Authors must claim ownership of their paper(s). They can submit articles to the INKE journal under the section "Articles." Under "Academic Disciplines", please specify the pertinent research area for the article: Textual Studies, User Experience, Interface Design, or Information Management.

INKE Members can submit relevant articles and publication to the INKE Journal under the "Relevant" section. If you are unsure of your status as an INKE member, please email project manager Melanie Chernyk at

Style: The INKE Journal follows 7th edition MLA guidelines.


Supply figures as separate files, in either TIFF or JPEG format, with their position within the text clearly indicated on the page where they are introduced. Provide typed captions for figures and plates.


Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. For Authors: The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

    For Endorsers: If the article is a reprint, please state where the article was previously published. Otherwise, indicate that you are submitting a "preprint" on behalf of the authors.

  2. For Authors and Endorsers: The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, PDF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. For Authors: The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

    For Endorsers: Please check to ensure that the article is properly formatted. If it does not adhere to house rules, contact the author in order to make the necessary changes.

  4. For Authors: The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

  5. For Authors: You have a recognized endorser for your submission. Please indicate who your endorser is below.
