Cross-Border Cooperation in the German-Czech-Polish Border Region at the Turn of the Century

Abstract


The development of the German-Czech-Polish border region has been strongly influenced by the political changes that took place at the end of the 20th century. An enormous number of tasks in several fields (e.g. traffic, economy, culture) had to be newly organized. In this context, cross-border Euroregions play an important role. Despite a positive assessment of the present situation concerning further European integration, there are numerous problems to be solved. The adaptation of economic, administrative and other standards as well as the need to minimize resentments and prejudices between the formerly different political systems are included here.
