Marcos Ramirez Erre: Border Art ‘From This Side’

Jo-Anne Berelowitz

Abstract

Place-the location of an artist-is a significant issue in the creation of artistic work. The work of many "border artists" recognized by the mainstream art-press is made from the perspective of the United States. The work of Marcos Ramirez ERRE is made from the southern-Tijuana-side of the U.S.-Mexico borderline. This article examines his art and the ways that his perspective marks him as different from other artists who have taken the border as their subject.
