Restoration of Wetland Systems of Cootes Paradise Marsh and Grindstone Creek Marsh

  • Carly Leggitt University of Victoria

Following the mandates and direction of the Royal Botanical Gardens Act of 1989, the Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) is at the forefront of conservation in the Hamilton, Burlington and Dundas regions of Southern Ontario. Much of this highly urbanized area is now stewarded by the RBG and its affiliates. This report wil demonstrate the spring and summer restoration efforts, within the context of the Wetland Restoration Plan 2016-2021, and the long-term goals of RBG owned and held in trust wetlands (Theysmeyer et al. 2016). For the purposes of this academic project, I have been permitted by the RBG's head of Natural Lands, Tys Theysmeyer, to participate in the Wetland Restoration Plan 2016-2021.
