Abstract

This restoration plan has been developed to address the needs of the Katzie First Nation (KFN) in regards to rehabilitation work on Indian Reserve # 4 (IR#4) as well as complete the requirements for a 390 final project.  This plan has been developed as a working document to guide restoration, rehabilitation, and development activities on the site over the next 2 to 5 years.  The measurable goals of the plan will be completed once monitoring has confirmed that targets have been achieved.  The Katzie First Nation development corporation (Smuq’wa Development Corporation) has plans to establish tourism operations at the site starting with the reconstruction of 7 cabins for rental opportunities.  Additional tourism opportunities will be developed and added to the core site as interest and funding permits.  Ongoing funding for the restoration and rehabilitation of the site will be provided from tourism operations revenues and future development projects.
