Restoration of an Urban Lot
Abstract
A portion of an urban lot in Saanich, BC, was restored to a more natural state through the removal of extensive invasive species coverage (English Ivy and Daphne) and their replacement with a variety of native plant species. Wildlife enhancements were carried out as well as the installation of a rain garden to capture stormwater. Organic food production and composting areas were created to reduce the household's ecological footprint.
