About the Journal
Focus and Scope
PlatForum is a peer-reviewed journal published by the graduate students in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Victoria. Committed to upholding a tradition of holistic anthropology, PlatForum welcomes a diverse range of topics and issues from all four of anthropology's sub-disciplines: archaeology, social-cultural, biological-physical, and linguistic anthropology.
Recognizing the benefits of both interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary contributions made by students outside the field of anthropology, we continue to extend our call to all students including upper-level undergraduate students, and those from community colleges and universities across Canada.
Peer Review Process
Each submission is reviewed by a minimum of two reviewers: a member of the PlatForum editorial board, and a contributor to the current issue. This process allows all contributors to take up both reviewer and reviewee positions. Review guidelines will be provided. It is our hope that this networking of ideas will generate dialogue, strengthen the journal, and foster a broader sense of community among anthropologically-minded students across Canada.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
PlatForum solicits submissions through a Call for Papers basis and does not accept unsolicited submissions. Each issue's Call for Papers is usually released in October, and will detail the process for submissions along with any information relevant to thematic considerations. For a copy of the Call for Papers, contact the Submissions Editor at email@example.com.
Author Self-Archiving Policy
This journal permits and encourages authors to post items submitted to the journal on personal websites or institutional repositories both prior to and after publication, while providing bibliographic details that credit, if applicable, its publication in this journal.
