Focus and Scope

CONSTELACIONES is an annual blind peer-reviewed showcase of extraordinary undergraduate research papers of a scholarly merit in all areas of Hispanic and Italian Studies. Undergraduate students as well as recent graduates from any university and from any discipline may submit papers.

CONSTELACIONES endeavours to publish papers of a scholarly merit that promote research and scholarship in all areas of Hispanic and Italian Studies. This journal offers a comprehensive look at some of the novel work of undergraduate students in this department.

The submission deadline for the 2024 issue, Volume1, No. 1 is February 1, 2024. The publishing date is set for March 2024.

Peer Review Process

Papers may be written in English, Italian, or Spanish. After each issue’s submission deadline, CONSTELACIONES will submit the papers to an intensive selection process, including a review board of undergraduates from both the Hispanic and Italian sections of the Department.

Each paper will be reviewed by at least two undergraduate students. Reviewers will address areas including clarity of writing, presentation, relevance to the theme of Hispanic and Italian Studies, originality, interdisciplinary relevance, and contribution to research in the area. It is the responsibility of the author to ensure that all content is properly sourced and researched prior to submission.

The Editorial Board will notify authors as early as possible as to whether their paper has been accepted for publication. Selected articles will be assigned an editor, who will work with the author to address any outstanding issues concerning style or substantive content prior to publication. Please see CONSTELACIONES style guide for specifics on formatting.

In the case of a high volume of submissions pertaining to the same topic, the selection process will become more competitive. Papers not selected for publication may be considered for a following issue, as declared by the Editorial Board, and with permission from the author at the time of submission.

Publication Frequency

CONSTELACIONES is published annually at the end of the UVic spring semester.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Author Self-Archiving Policy

This journal permits and encourages authors to post items submitted to the journal on personal websites or institutional repositories both prior to and after publication, while providing bibliographic details that credit, if applicable, its publication in this journal.
