Focus and Scope

Vamps: Journal Of Absurdity and Horror is a graduate student run journal revolving around exactly those themes. The journal is concerned with transgressions of all types: particularly those that meld the affects of horror and comedy within the same work.

Vamps is structured around the principle of the queer, of the in-between, of the becoming, of transition and the stuff of shadows and mirrors.

Peer Review Process

Blind review: Authors will submit their materials with their names removed or blocked off. Submissions will be decided by a consensus decision by the full editorial board. Submissions will then be editd by the appropriate section reviewers (poetry will be reviewed by the poetry editor, fiction by both of our fiction editors, etc...).

Once the section editors have edited the material accepted for publication, the submissions will be sent to a different section editor for final review. If any substantial changes are required, the general editor will get in touch with the author via email to suggest changes or to reject. We will require that pieces be in standard MLA style.

Publication Frequency

This journal will publish annually.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Author Self-Archiving Policy

This journal permits and encourages authors to post items submitted to the journal on personal websites or institutional repositories both prior to and after publication, while providing bibliographic details that credit, if applicable, its publication in this journal.
