About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Verges: Germanic and Slavic Studies in Review is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal published by the graduate students in the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Victoria. Verges welcomes a diverse range of topics and issues from all areas of Germanic or Slavic studies.

Recognizing the benefits of both interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary contributions made by students outside Germanic and Slavic studies, we extend our call to all students including upper-level undergraduate students, and those from community colleges and universities across Canada.

Peer review is an essential component in the selection process. Submissions will be reviewed by the editorial board of the journal in a review process. Selection will be based on originality, quality of research, effective methodology, and overall contribution to Germanic or Slavic studies.
